Headmaster and two teachers from Finborough School, near Stowmarket, complete exercise challenges to inspire students
A headmaster and a teacher from a school near Stowmarket have each run 100km in just a week to inspire children to be more active.
Finborough School headmaster Steven Clark and Kirsty Walker, who teaches Prep 4, decided to challenge themselves by running either before or after school (sometimes both) in order to cover the distance.
Pre-Prep teacher Saffron Woolley also completed 5k per day on her exercise bike in various costumes ranging from a penguin to a sumo wrestler!
Last week’s efforts were part of the school’s #MoveWeek form challenge, which asked students to run, walk or wheel any distance above and beyond their usual activity.
Mr Clark said: “At Finborough we place great importance on being positive and inspiring role models for our children and young people.
“We don’t ask them to take on challenges we wouldn’t complete alongside them and, by going that extra mile, we hope to show them the value in striving to be the best versions of themselves.”
Move Week was one of Finborough’s half-termly form challenges designed to get students to work together towards a shared goal.
Last half term was a rap contest, but this term they were asked to contribute to Move Week.
The challenge was open to the whole school community, students, parents and staff.
Each form completed its own activities throughout the week but different parts of the school came together on Friday to be part of an event with their wider school family.
Over 300 Senior School students went on a 2km wellbeing walk together whereas Pre-Prep and Prep ran with Mr Clark to support the final kilometres of his 100km challenge.
Finborough School is an independent day and boarding school in Great Finborough.
